When my son Marco began his GCSE Combined Science course with the AQA examination board, he was struggling significantly. In October, he was working at a grade 4:4, which was well below his potential and he lacked the confidence to believe he could improve. That’s when we found Sadia, and everything changed.
Sadia began tutoring Marco across all three sciences, and right from the start, I could see the difference in his attitude. She took the time to build his confidence and showed him that he was capable of achieving much more than he initially believed. This personal approach helped Marco overcome his initial apprehensions about science.
One of the key aspects of Sadia’s teaching was her focus on exam technique. She didn’t just go through the content but also made sure Marco understood how to approach exam questions. Each lesson was structured around examination questions, which was incredibly beneficial. Sadia provided feedback on Marco’s responses, explaining where he could improve and how to incorporate examiner expectations into his answers. This constant feedback loop helped Marco refine his technique, and he soon became much more confident in tackling a wide range of questions, including the more unfamiliar ones.
In December, Marco’s hard work paid off when he achieved a 5:5 in his mock examinations and moved up a set. By March, he had further improved to a grade 6:6, which was a significant leap from where he started. I was amazed at his progress, but what impressed me most was his growing enjoyment of science. This newfound enthusiasm motivated him to put in extra effort outside of lessons, engaging in independent learning and revising on his own. Even when Marco contracted COVID during his mock exams, Sadia’s encouragement and lessons on resilience helped him stay motivated and focused.
In June, Marco achieved a grade 7:7 in his final examinations, a fantastic result that we couldn’t have imagined when he first started with Sadia. I am incredibly grateful for her encouragement, patience, and excellent teaching. She truly made a difference in Marco’s education and self-confidence, and I would highly recommend her to any parent seeking to help their child succeed in science.
